World-ending Machine to Run Long Term. Impending doom set for 24 months from now.

Our favorite world-ending Hadron Collider is scheduled to run long-term, meaning a good year of impending doom.

For those who haven't heard of the LHC, it is world's largest hadron collider built hundreds of feet underneath Geneva.

Steve Meyers, the director of LHC announced Wednesday that the particle collider will run for 18 to 24 months at a collision energy of seven tera-electron-volts (TeV)--or 3.5 TeV per beam--with the powering-up phase starting later this month. The bonus is that it will definitely get shut down after 18 to 24 months to review data and see if it can run at the golden 14 TeV they need to find that elusive "God particle".

Good luck, CERN.
