Geek Prep Tips: Football
Geeks, prepare for the Super Bowl. Here are a few tips to help you fit in to those manly discussion things.
1. Learn the Talk: Brush up on football slang so you understand exactly what people say. Trust me. A great website is at ehow.com. Click here for a jump.
2. Make sure to bring something to the party, or if you are at the bar, buy a round for your friends. Buying booze or bringing food never hurts.
3. Be Clean: Always come dressed casual but clean. Groom yourself if you haven't done so already and if you can, wear a jersey for one of the two teams. if you do wear a jersey, you'll need to know stuff about the team, so remember to read up.
4. Learn about the teams and players: Before getting caught up in talk over coaches, plays, and teams, you need background info. Google everything, read news articles and sports pages and make sure you're wel informed in case you get asked a question.
5. Be yourself: Despite faking your football knowledge, relax and try to be yourself. Hopefully they won't beat the crap out of you at half time if you aren't annoying.
