Nexus One 3G Issues Continue.

The Nexus One, despite the recent OTA update still isn't fixed, so it seems.  Endgadget reports :

Google's support forums are noting that the phone will drop a weaker 3G signal merely when held by the bottom, as the video below clearly shows. Oops. We're not at all sure what's going on here, but we're hoping this issue can yet be solved with a software patch -- things are going to get messy if this is purely a hardware issue.

Let's hope things get fixed, and soon.

Nexus One: Testing

Testing. Looks like HTC and Google are making sure that they don't have the same issues Apple did during the release of the original iPhones.

New Software Update for Nexus One phones

Starting today, Nexus One users will begin to receive an over-the-air software update on their phones. This update provides some great new features, and fixes a few problems that some users might have experienced, including:

Google Goggles: this mobile application will now be available directly on your device by launching it from your All Apps menu. Just use your Nexus One camera to start searching the web

Google Maps: the Maps application with be updated to a new version, Google Maps 3.4, which will include:

* Starred items synchronized with maps.google.com - access your favorite places from your phone or computer
* Search suggestions from your personal maps.google.com history - makes it easy to search for places you've searched for before
* Night mode in Google Maps Navigation - automatically changes your screen at night for easier viewing and driving

Pinch-to-zoom functionality: devices will now include a new pinch-to-zoom mechanism in the phone's Browser, Gallery and Maps applications

3G connectivity: we will provide a general fix to help improve 3G connectivity on some Nexus One phones

In order to access the update, you will receive a message on your phone's notification bar. Just download the update, wait for it to install, and you should be all set. This update will be rolled out gradually to phones - and most users might not receive the notification until the end of the week. We hope you enjoy these new features and look forward to your feedback.

More Nexus One Issues

nexus outage

According to Darren Murph from Endaget T-Mobile is once again having issues with their Nexus One units. It's reportedly nationwide. Some of the SIMs, when place in another unit, pull down data from the network. There are some customers who aren't having any issues at all.

Hopefully someone will figure out whats going on. I bet there are quite a few Nexus One users looking forward to that Android upgrade.

Google Nexus One at Walmart

Nexus One

Today's Nexus One may be the hottest keyboard-free Android smartphone on the market today, but it doesn't exactly have the hottest network support. That looks like it'll be changing soon thanks to Walmart of all places, which has put up a "Coming Soon!" page for the Nexus One, listing an impressive suite of wireless bands including 1xEvDO for 3G on Sprint and Verizon and UMTS/HSDPA 850/1900 for 3G on AT&T. Could this finally be the network-agnostic smartphone (or smartphones, as the case may be) that Google has wanted, or is it just a case of some optimistic web admin letting his fingers do the walking when writing up this teaser? We're leaning toward the former, but there's also a rumor of a $99 price when purchased at Walmart, and we're having a hard time swallowing that one -- if only because the Droid went for $188 there at launch.

I'm seriously hoping that this rumor is true. Can't wait to see the Nexus One on AT&t's network.
